St Patrick’s Day

A7308103.jpg

On Tuesday, March 17th, many of us will celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. The National Retail Federation predicts that Americans will spend $6.16 billion dollars to celebrate in 2020. Six billion dollars is a lot of money, and a lot of opportunity for legal trouble.

Whether it is a pint of Guinness or a green beer, Wallethub.com says that St. Patrick’s Day has become the fourth most popular drinking day in America. The Indiana Department of Transportation has posted some sobering statistics about the consequences at https://www.in.gov/indot/3700.htm. If you will be celebrating with alcohol, make plans in advance for a designated driver or spend some of your “green” on a taxi, Uber or Lyft.

Tradition says, one must wear green on St. Patrick’s Day to avoid being pinched. Pinching in the workplace has contributed to more than one sexual harassment lawsuit. As the dentist in the lawsuit found out, the “It was St. Patrick’s Day” defense doesn’t work. As always, keeping one’s hands to themselves is best.
Whether you celebrate by wearing green, donning a shamrock or eating corned beef and cabbage, Happy St. Patrick’s Day and May the luck of the Irish be with you.
